Its management team consists of 4 professionals who together bring decades of technology investing experience in Austria and across Europe.

The firm was founded in Vienna in 2005 after a management spin-off from another Austrian venture capital company. In order to better express the future focus of its investment activities, the firm was re-named PONTIS Capital GmbH in March 2009 (formerly PONTIS Venture Partners Management GmbH). It is wholly-owned by its management. It operates from offices in Vienna and Munich.

PONTIS Capital is a member of the Austrian Venture Capital and Private Equity Organisation (AVCO) and the European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (EVCA).
